This small bat has dark-brown, tricolored dorsal fur. It is recorded in evergreen forests from southern Mexico through Central America to the western Andean slopes of Colombia and Ecuador, and feeds on nectar.
The back is dark brown, with hairs that have dark bases, pale middles and dark tips. The muzzle is moderately elongated and slender; the wing membrane attaches near the bases of the outer toes.
It occurs mainly in lowland primary and secondary evergreen rainforest, occasionally using plantations when nectar is abundant. It is nocturnal; in northeastern Costa Rica it visited at least 14 plant species, including bromeliads and balsa trees.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
