This small bat has tricolored dorsal hairs, with dark bases, pale middles and dark tips. It is recorded in evergreen forests and savannas east of the Andes in South America.
The dorsum is blackish or dark brown, with hairs that have dark gray to black bases, pale middles and dark tips. The underparts are dark gray-brown and slightly paler than the back. The muzzle is somewhat elongated and the small noseleaf is about 4 mm tall.
The account places it in primary and secondary evergreen forests and savannas from lowlands to about 600 m. Unidentified pollen was found on one captured individual. The suggested pollen-and-nectar diet partly relies on other Lichonycteris species, so it is not treated as confirmed species-specific feeding.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
