This cave-dwelling bat migrates seasonally to Mexico. In the United States, it is recorded in southwestern New Mexico and western Texas during summer.
It is a medium-sized bat with no tail, short ears, and a leaf-like nose projection. The back is grey-brown and the underside is paler.
It roosts in groups in deep caves and feeds on flower nectar and pollen. It especially visits agaves and carries pollen between flowers.
