The Andean white-eared opossum is a marsupial with white ears and distinctive facial markings. It is associated mainly with mountain forests, but records also include riparian and human-modified habitats in parts of its range.
ADW describes a white face and elongated white ears, prominent black facial markings, and a mostly bare prehensile tail. Few accounts separate its appearance from the former, broader white-eared opossum group, so some details are comparative.
It generally prefers forested mountain habitats. In western parts of its range it may also occur in lower riparian areas, and it can persist in human-modified settings such as farms and suburbs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
