The Marquesan Kingfisher was recorded on Tahuata in the Marquesas Islands by a 2011 survey. In forest it eats insects and small lizards and nests in tree cavities.
A juvenile recorded during the 2011 survey still had black and blue plumage.
On Tahuata, the survey reported it in humid forest by mountain streams and remote valleys. It ate insects, beetles, grasshoppers, and small lizards, and nested in tree cavities.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
