The Ultramarine Kingfisher is a forest kingfisher of the Solomon Islands region. Males and females differ in back color, so the sexes are not uniformly blue.
The male has a blue-violet crown and purple rump, with a conspicuous white collar and back. The female has a blue-violet back; juveniles show pale barring.
It watches for prey from trees or wires and is seen alone or in pairs in forest. The cited account reports a diet of forest invertebrates.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
