This rat lives in humid forests of eastern Madagascar, but its life in the wild is poorly known.
Its back is gray to cinnamon, the underside is paler, and the tail is dark.
It has traits suited to climbing, but specimens have also been collected near rocks. A capture in a fruiting tree informs tentative food guesses, and its habits remain poorly known.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
