The white-tipped tufted-tailed rat has records from humid montane forest in eastern Madagascar. Its white tail tuft is a feature used to distinguish it from a close relative.
The end of the tail has a tuft of white hair. ITIS lists this feature as a way to distinguish it from the related Eliurus majori.
It has been recorded only in montane humid forest and is presumed to use trees and shrubs. The IUCN assessment says little else is known about its ecology.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
