The Hawaiian Petrel is a seabird with a dark gray back and white underside. On Hawaiʻi Island it nests in burrows on Mauna Loa's slopes and flies out at night to search for food at sea.
Its upperparts are dark gray and its underside is white.
In the Hawaiʻi Island account, adults return to land in spring and nest in underground burrows. The female lays one egg in May; the parents take turns incubating it for about 60 days, and the chick fledges from November to early December.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
