This large-eared bat occurs across southwestern and southern Australia. HMW describes it listening for prey while perched in several woodland and forest types, with crickets among its common prey.
The upper fur is dark gray-brown and the underside is paler grayish white. Its ears are very large.
HMW reports Banksia woodland, Casuarina and Melaleuca stands, and tall eucalypt forest with shrub understory. It perch-hunts by passive listening; crickets are common prey.
