This fruit bat occurs in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is nocturnal and has been recorded roosting among leaves in forest canopies.
The back is brown or tan, while gray tips on the belly hairs make the underside look lighter. White patches below the ears and on the shoulders stand out; some Virgin Islands bats have a reddish back.
It is active at night and roosts among leaves in forest canopies, changing roost sites. It eats fruit from plants including Manilkara, Cecropia, Prestoea, and Piper. Figs have not been documented in its diet.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
