This small opossum is recorded in northern Argentina. Argentina’s 2019 assessment lists localities across several provinces, chiefly in the Chaco region.
Its soft, fine fur is grayish brown, with different shades on the mid-back and flanks. The tail is longer than the head and body together and sharply bicolored, dark above and whitish below. Argentina’s 2019 assessment gives a body mass of 11–17 g.
It is mainly terrestrial but also climbs trees and shrubs. It is nocturnal and solitary, and is omnivorous, including fruit and insects in its diet. Forest and scrub are listed as optimal habitats; grassland is considered suboptimal.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
