A small bird endemic to New Zealand that gleans insects while hovering at the outer canopy.
It is slim, olive-grey above and off-white below. The tail darkens towards its tip, where white feather ends form a band in flight. The eye is red, and the bill and legs are black.
It hovers while gleaning insects from the outer canopy. The female incubates and cares for the brood in a hanging, enclosed nest hidden in dense foliage.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
