A small bat with a horseshoe-shaped fold of skin around its nose. In Ireland, records are concentrated in six western counties.
Folds of skin around the nostrils form a horseshoe-shaped noseleaf. When resting, it hangs by its feet and wraps its wings around its body.
In Ireland, it roosts in places such as the roofs of old houses and stables. It hibernates in winter in caves and disused underground sites, and forages in broadleaved woodland and scrub.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
