This small bird has a restricted range in northeast India. It lives mostly on the forest floor among mossy rocks and crevices.
The male has olive-brown upperparts with faint dark, scale-like markings. The underparts are ochre, sometimes with white streaks or a central patch; the female is brighter orange-ochre below.
It lives in the undergrowth of evergreen and secondary forest and eats invertebrates. It usually escapes on foot, hiding among moss-covered rocks and in crevices.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
