The Matses big-eared bat is a small South American bat with dark-brown fur and large ears. The original specimens came from northeastern Peru, where bats were found roosting by day in deep holes along gullies.
Its dorsal and ventral fur is dark brown. The ears are joined by a low band with a small notch near the middle of the upper edge.
Individuals were observed roosting by day in deep ground holes along gullies in primary forest. The authors suggested old armadillo burrows or erosion holes as possibilities, but the origin was not established.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
