This dark-furred, big-eared bat was described from a type locality in northwestern Ecuador. The 2007 paper limits its reported distribution to that locality and describes the specimen and its setting there.
It is medium-sized, with uniform mummy-brown fur above and buffy-brown fur below. The wings and membranes are blackish brown, and the ears are also mummy brown.
The paper’s ecological notes describe the type locality, Finca San José, as secondary-growth forest that was being cleared when the holotype was collected. This is a locality record, not a habitat description for a broad range.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
