This small flowerpecker is endemic to the Philippines. Males and females have different plumage.
The male has an olive-black crown and back with a green gloss, plus white feathers at the centre of the throat and on the pectoral tufts.
At one Philippine farm, an observer recorded a female entering and sitting in a nest about 5.5 m high in a lansones tree. Fledglings nearby were not confirmed to have come from that nest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
