This small opossum lives in the northern Central Cordillera of Colombia. Three additional collection sites were reported after the two specimens collected in 1950.
On the hind foot, granular skin separates the outer pad from the fourth interdigital pad. Two medial antebrachial vibrissae occur on the forelimb.
In Antioquia, northern Colombia, it was captured inside secondary-forest fragments rich in epiphytes, palms, aroids, and peppers. In the February 2004–January 2006 survey, traps were placed on the ground and 2–12 m up in trees, but this species was caught in ground traps; one animal entered a pitfall trap. Three lactating adult females were recorded at Yarumal in October 2005 and January 2006.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
