A marten found across much of Europe and Central Asia; many individuals have a pale streak on the chest.
Its coat ranges from dark brown to pale gray-brown. A pale streak often runs from below the chin down the neck and chest, though it may be absent in southern or eastern populations. It has a pink nose and a bushy tail.
It is mainly active at night and usually lives alone, eating small animals, birds, and eggs. It also eats berries and other fruit in summer, and may be seen by day during the mating season.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
