This mouse opossum has records from Panama through Colombia to Ecuador. It has an orangish-brown back, and most examined specimens came from moist lowland or foothill forests.
Its back is orangish brown. Along the underside, a continuous band of solid-colored fur runs from the chin to the anus.
Most collection localities in the revision were moist lowland or foothill forests below 1,700 m. A few records came from dry forest or mangroves, so the species is not presented as restricted to moist forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
