The Darién broad-nosed bat is a medium-sized species recorded from two mountain localities in Darién, Panama: Cerro Malí and Cerro Pirre.
The dense back fur is almost black, while the belly fur is pale brown and gray. Facial stripes consist of whitish hairs with dusky tips; the clear stripe down the back is brighter. Dense dark hairs 4–4.5 mm long fringe the tail membrane. The three type specimens had forearms 45.2–46.8 mm long.
An adult lactating female was collected at Cerro Malí, Panama, on 19 February 1964. It was caught in a mist net stretched over a stream at the headwaters of the Río Pucro.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
