This horseshoe bat was confirmed on the Con Dao Islands of southern Vietnam. A survey there observed about 25 individuals hunting insects in low flight; the original description was based on one adult male.
The adult male used for the 1939 description had a short tip on the noseleaf, a broad central sella, and relatively long ears.
A 2011 survey studied about 25 bats on Con Dao. It recorded them catching insects in flight over primary forest, trees on sandy plains, roadside secondary growth, plantations, and near street lamps, usually about 0.5–4 m above the ground.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
