At Gunung Merapi National Park on Java, a male was recorded visiting a nest and feeding two chicks. This was an observation of one nest and does not establish the species' general breeding behaviour.
The two chicks in the 2008 nest had dark blue upperparts, yellow underparts, and black or dark-coloured heads. They were still unfeathered with closed eyes, which the author used to infer they were no more than five days old.
During about three hours at one nest, a single male fed the chicks 26 times. The nest hung about 6–7 m up in an acacia in a villager's front yard. No female visited during the observation.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
