A primate known from limestone country in southwest China. Its white head contrasts with a dark body, and leaves make up most of its diet.
Long white hair stands up over the head, and white chin hair forms a ruff. Most of the body and tail are dark; the tail ends in white hair. Infants are born with bright orange fur.
Leaves form most of its diet, supplemented by fruit, shoots, flowers, and bark. It uses limestone cliffs, crevices, and caves, and has been observed drinking pooled water from rock surfaces.
