A molossid bat recorded from the Solomon Islands. The 1931 description concerns a specimen collected in a cave on Santa Isabel and describes its back as auburn with occasional white hairs. MDD uses Mops solomonis but says the generic transfer from Chaerephon needs further study.
In the original specimens, the back was auburn brown with occasional white hairs. The underside was washed with dull brown.
The 1931 description records specimens collected from a cave at Mufu Point, on a cliff above the sea on Santa Isabel Island. This is the collection site and does not establish that all individuals roost in caves.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
