This tinamou occurs on the Altiplano and nearby high slopes. A Bolivia species account describes groups of about five to ten birds using open grassland and rocky ground.
- Bornean Mountain Ground Squirrel Dremomys everetti
This squirrel occurs in the mountains of Borneo. Stomach contents from 26 Mount Trus specimens were mostly insects, with fruit, nuts, leaves, and shoots also recorded. The current Mammal Diversity Database uses Sundasciurus everetti, while ADW retains the older genus.

The African Golden Weaver is a weaver of sub-Saharan Africa. In breeding plumage, males have chestnut coloring from the face onto the breast; females are duller.
- Medium-tailed Rice Rat Eremoryzomys mesocaudis
This rodent was described from the Marañón River region of northern Peru. A black line at the center of the nose tip is one of its diagnostic features.
- Northern White-crowned Shrike Eurocephalus ruppelli
This shrike occurs in dry scrub and savanna in East Africa. It moves in small groups and watches for prey from exposed perches.
- Calabrian Black Squirrel Sciurus meridionalis
A squirrel restricted to Calabria in southern Italy. A 2017 study presented morphological and genetic differences supporting its treatment as a species distinct from the Eurasian red squirrel.
- Mountain Thornbill Acanthiza katherina
Mountain Thornbills are endemic to Queensland’s Wet Tropics and inhabit upland rainforest. BirdLife reports their highest densities at about 1,200 m.
- Southern Grasshopper Mouse Onychomys torridus
Its back ranges from gray to cinnamon, while the underside and tail tip are pale. At night it uses burrows in dry grassland and scrub and hunts insects and scorpions.
- White-speckled Laughingthrush Ianthocincla bieti
Biet's Laughingthrush is endemic to China, but its distribution and population remain poorly documented. Two active nests found at Laojun Mountain in 2021 and 2024 were in mixed forest with bamboo.
- Indian Giant Flying Squirrel Petaurista philippensis
The Indian giant flying squirrel lives in tree cavities and canopies, gliding between trees on a membrane that stretches from its forelegs to its hind legs.
