A small waterside heron found in Brazil around lakes, rivers, estuaries, and mangroves.

  • Cream-throated White-eye Zosterops atriceps

The Cream-throated White-eye occurs in Indonesia's North Maluku islands. A 2010 survey recorded it on Obi, where the observers heard it often but saw it only occasionally.

  • Scarlet-banded Barbet Capito wallacei

This barbet is known from Cordillera Azul in Peru. During the original description study, birds were observed taking fruit in the canopy of high-elevation cloud forest and moving in loose groups.

  • Santa Marta Antpitta Grallaria bangsi

The Santa Marta Antpitta occurs only in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta of northern Colombia. It is a ground-dwelling bird recorded in humid montane forest and forest edges.

  • Russet Sparrow Passer rutilans

A sparrow ranging from the Himalayas across East Asia. Western populations use open woodland and terraced fields, while eastern populations use woodland edges and cultivated land; winter flocks sometimes forage together.

  • Broad-billed Motmot Electron platyrhynchum

This forest bird ranges from Central America into northwestern South America and catches insects and small animals.

  • Pohnpei Broadbill Myiagra pluto

Myiagra pluto is confined to Pohnpei Island in Micronesia. It also occurs at forest edges and village gardens, catching insects from low perches.

  • Javan Blue-banded Kingfisher Alcedo euryzona

The Javan Blue-banded Kingfisher is a kingfisher recorded on the Indonesian island of Java. A report describes observations along rocky rivers in Central Java.

  • White-eared Catbird Ailuroedus buccoides

This cisticola occurs in the highlands of Ethiopia and Eritrea, from marsh edges to montane heath and bracken.

  • Golden-crowned Emerald Cynanthus auriceps

This small hummingbird lives in western Mexico. Males are green with a deeply forked tail; females are paler below and have a shallower tail fork. A western Mexico study that included this species described an open-cup nest made from plant material and spider web.

This seabird spends much of its time over the North Pacific and returns to remote island colonies to raise its chick.

  • Cinereous Bulbul Hemixos cinereus

This bulbul occurs in Southeast Asian mountain forests. It eats fruit, seeds, and insects; the Bornean subspecies is described with a yellow undertail.

  • Willard's Sooty Boubou Laniarius willardi

Willard’s Sooty Boubou was described from a small series of specimens from the western Albertine Rift. The description reports collection localities in Uganda and Burundi, but the few specimens do not establish a complete range.

  • Masked Cardinal Paroaria nigrogenis

This tanager-like bird occurs in northeastern Colombia, Venezuela and Trinidad. It uses wetlands and mangroves near water.

  • Lark Bunting Calamospiza melanocorys

Breeding males are black with a white wing patch, while females, young birds, and males outside the breeding season are brown. It gathers in grasslands and shrubsteppe of the Great Plains.
