This horseshoe bat was collected in Permana Cave on Sulawesi. It is known from one specimen, and a 2013 study proposed the species name for that specimen.
For the Sulawesi specimen, the sella of the noseleaf was described as slightly wider and more oval, and the rostrum as slightly longer. The older description used a different subspecific name for this same specimen.
The only known specimen was collected in Permana Cave near Poso, Central Sulawesi. The study treats this single specimen as a cave record.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
